    Innovative Literacy Technology Pilot

    We're thrilled to announce a groundbreaking pilot and research study that will leverage technology to enhance literacy services! This funded initiative will:

    • Support 15-20 individuals aged 16-30 currently waitlisted for services
    • Help reduce waitlists and improve accessibility
    • Create new pathways for literacy support

      March 28, 2025 

      Join Literacy Delaware for a unique team SCRABBLE™ tournament where groups of up to 6 players compete to build the highest-scoring boards. $50 per person includes hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and a chance to support adult literacy in Delaware.

        Building Strong Foundations

        Delaware Libraries Catalog Initiative Delaware Libraries are expanding access by opening their catalog of 2.5 million items to school libraries statewide. Colonial School District has pioneered this integration, with more schools invited to join through the Book Flood initiative. Learn More

        Creating Understanding Through Education

        The Institute for Healthcare Advancement recently featured an insightful blog from Greg O'Neill, MSN, APRN, AGCNS-BC, NPD-BC, NEA-BC, Chair of the Health Literacy Council of Delaware, and Patient & Family Health Education Director at ChristianaCare. His piece "Shaping a Health Literate Organization" provides valuable guidance on assessing, planning, building relationships, and advocating for change to improve patient education and outcomes through health literacy initiatives. training and support.           United Way of Delaware

          Through their "Get Delaware Reading Wilmington" initiative, United Way is tackling a critical challenge: over 75% of Wilmington's third graders read below grade level. The program supports nearly 500 children through three key focus areas: School Readiness, School Attendance, and Summer Learning, working alongside 17+ community partners to create lasting change in children's literacy outcomes.           The University's College of Education and Human Development is celebrating National Children's Book Week by sharing expert guidance on fostering early literacy, from talking with newborns to selecting diverse books and using digital tools effectively. Read the Full Article
